How the Pass Line with Max Odds works

Put $15 on the Pass Line on the come-out. When a point is set, add odds behind it: 3x on the 4 or 10 ($45), 4x on the 5 or 9 ($60) and 5x on the 6 or 8 ($75). The odds bet pays true odds, so the casino has no edge at all on that money.

How we tested it

Each session is 100 rolls (about an hour at a busy table) starting on a new shooter, using standard Vegas rules: 3-4-5x odds, casino payouts rounded down, place bets off on the come-out, and a $5,000 table max. At the end of the hour we stop betting, take down removable bets and let contract bets finish. "Down $500" counts any point in the hour where the session was $500 behind. Dice come from a cryptographic random generator. Results are practice estimates, not predictions.

Common questions

What does "3-4-5x odds" mean?

It's the maximum odds most casinos allow: 3 times your line bet on the 4 or 10, 4 times on the 5 or 9, and 5 times on the 6 or 8. Every one of those combinations pays out exactly 6 times your line bet when the point hits.

Is taking odds really a 0% house edge?

Yes. Odds are paid at true odds: 2:1 on 4/10, 3:2 on 5/9 and 6:5 on 6/8. It's the only bet in the casino with no built-in house advantage.

Why do I lose more money with odds if the edge is 0%?

You don't lose more on average. The expected loss comes only from the $15 flat bet. But your results swing much more, so a cold table can hurt faster. Size the odds to your bankroll.
